A Membership Practice
Benefits of my Membership Practice:
1) Same or next day visits.
2) Longer, more thorough consultations. My extended follow-up visits often run 60-90 minutes.
3) Expert Internal Medicine care with a Northwestern trained Internist in practice since 1999 who continues to study 7 days weekly to stay current.
4) A prepared and focused physician who listens to and tailors a healthcare program to your individual needs.
5) Management of chronic medical conditions, such as obesity, diabetes, kidney disease, and others, in addition to promoting wellness.
6) Proactive medicine such as Grail Galleri screening, expanded biomarker blood tests to look more deeply into organ systems and identify potential issues long before they become a serious threat to your health.
7) I respond to calls or texts quickly. I allow space between patient visits to do so.
8) I prefer in-person visits, but I also offer Zoom visits for issues that do not require an examination.
9) It is important for me to forge long-term relationships with my patients to improve comfort and communication.
10) Concierge Medicine is not luxury medicine; it involves receiving the time and personal attention you need to deal with medical issues and maintain wellness.
Introducting
Dr. Dennis Hughes
For years, I have worked for corporate medical practices. I have usually been given 15-20 minutes to see a patient. This is challenging, especially when I am seeing older patients with multiple, complex medical issues. I have often felt rushed.
Most physicians in corporate medicine have over a thousand patients, with booked schedules, and long wait times for an appointment. I am starting a membership practice to be able to offer longer visit times, with a more thorough and relaxed consultation, and with less wait for an appointment. This is the kind of medicine I have always wanted to practice.
In order to have this kind of concierge medicine practice, I will keep my patient census small, and will mostly see patients who are members in my practice. Insurance will not be accepted; instead, I will take a yearly fee, deducted monthly. Insurance can be used to cover lab tests, imaging studies, and visits to specialists who accept insurance.
